This happened to me in the early days of discussion groups and I joined one about fat acceptance and at some point, even though I STILL appreciate the goal and the sentiment, I grew weary of having all my social interactions online. Yeah, not the same at all. For days I had to drive my toddler to preschool while the WBC stood around the opposite corner to protest a church across the street with huge signs saying GOD HATES FAGS. They protest the local temple during High Holy Days with GOD HATES JEWS.

Shocked him. And not so much that it happened at all, but how adamant male clients were about not wanting to hand over a dime to the kids. Definitely sheltered - grew up on a farm, parents married 60+ years, middle of nowhere. Not everyone has the option of growing up to be as jaded and cosmopolitan as we are, babe.

I know this is anecdotal but one of the reasons my spouse stopped practicing domestic relations law was the large number of men who didn’t want to have to take responsibility, financially or otherwise, for their children.
