You may be thinking about Kansas 5-10 years ago because we have one of the country’s most amazing Democrat governors who handily beat a trumper to get to the Statehouse. Kansas history is complicated - see John Brown and our Free State roots - but we are hardly “heavily conservative.”

Good point. The only rooms we ever had to stay in were Bates-style run-down motel rooms. I shudder when I think about it now. 

As a pretty normal kid whose over-the-top father married several over-the-top women and then had to spend time with them, I really feel for these three girls. Here’s hoping they share a room where they’ll smoke a cigarette, drink a baby bottle of rum from the minibar and totally trash their egotistical parents.
