This is the first point that hits me honestly. I didn’t realize this happened. I haven’t read the book so I’m holding my judgement on it until then. 

The thing about Bake Off is that there’s no prize. You just win. And that’s it. You won. There’s no monetary or other kind of objective career advancement. You really want to give yourself a scare, read the first few chapters of Albert Speer’s “Inside the Third Reich.” I picked that up because I wanted to try to understand how an educated, reasonable, seemingly not particularly racist dude would wind up going whole-hog for Hitler and it was unsettling.

yeah, this one is so spot-on that I’m 90% sure Sinclair Lewis is a time-traveler.

That was a wonderful book. That whole side story about how the Ambassador’s daughter had a crush on Hitler and kind of stalked him, showing up at places he was known to frequent? And the layabout playboy son?
