Well put. I am all about ending the occupation, but her flip tweets were offensive, albeit not intentionally.
Even my lefty Reform rabbi supported the embassy change. I posted something from IfNotNow when it happened and she’s been chilly to me about it ever since. I don’t understand how we can preach tikkun olam and all the rest and sit idly by while Palestinian people suffer.
Why would I hit the backspace button when I can simply highlight and delete?
Honey?
As if I needed a specific day of the year to celebrate hating men?
Dad, what are you doing on here?
Right? These are human beings (not the commenters).
I think it can do both and if it did, thoughtfully, it would be a really celebratory event.
My MIL would say the chimichangas (honestly, cannot even imagine her trying to say this word; I’m certain it’s never come out of her mouth) hurt her “gooms,” as they are receding.
Oh, no - that’s not what I meant at all; not the musicians, but the creators and organizers of the actual shows, themselves. I’m talking about the power structure behind the scenes.
I think awards shows like the Grammys are like the U.S. Senate: they’re either going to get better and more relevant - and do their damn jobs - as the old white men die off and young people of color, whose ranks are growing every single day, thank god, with passion take over.
I see your Costco’s and raise you a Mexican dish my MIL never makes, but refers to as enchilalas.
I have a good friend at work who is a practicing Catholic and we talk occasionally about having that in common - the calling to perform actual good works. I am so in love with Nuns on the Bus - lots to be proud of.
I hear you. I’ve been following your open records debacle!
My MIL’s favorite store is Walmarts.
These burgers are the least of what one must deal with in the Midwest. No need to be harsh on the grub we shovel into our fat faces daily.
Also, bread to burger ratio on Frisco Melt a problem.
But that’s not all they are, which is the point, in my mind. Chris Pratt is to his religious beliefs seems more like a Tom Cruise to Scientology thing. Colbert makes fun of the church all the time.
In Colbert’s defense, he does mock the Catholic church from time to time. But overall, I’m with you. I’m a Reform Jew and and it doesn’t really get any more progressive than that, especially since a large part of our base is now recognizing the occupation in Gaza.
