I liked this movie as a kid. As an adult, I admire it for its strangeness and utterly bizarre tone and pacing. It was a genuinely weird film for Disney to make and I still don't understand who its target audience was supposed to be.
Boy, I remember this period of Disney's history when they were trying to branch out and make live-action movies for "older" kids. It was also when they put out "Something Wicked This Way Comes" (awesome) and the Bette Davis's creepfest "The Watcher in the Woods,"
I'm confused by this essay….so, did you, or do you, like the Black Hole? I liked it then. And, after watching it recently again, I like it now. BTW—those zombie crew members scared the CRAP out of me when I was 8.
