Agreed. The Globe speeches are also better because everyone is smashed (well most of them). If you gave people booze at the Oscars it would improve the show immensely.

I’m surprised he was asked back. The last time he hosted some of the celebrities (most notably Sean Penn) and Hollywood establishment whined because he dared make fun of Jude Law. I doubt he’ll be allowed to truly let loose but he’ll get in some jabs here and there.

I don’t think Avery’s attorneys were that bad. They were hamstrung by the fact the judge wouldn’t let them introduce alternative suspects. Also by a prosecutor who was allowed to make inappropriate comments during his summations (“who cares if they planted a key”) and influencing the jury.

Excellent post. Hollywood needs more diversity everywhere, not just the acting fields. And like you said, it’s not just blacks. It’s women,, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, etc. in all fields - writing, directing, producing, tech crews.

Jordan was just as good in Creed and he’s probably getting ignored again this year. His wouldn’t be a token nomination either, it would be deserved. He carried that movie.

Mad Max: Fury Road was a fantastic movie. It made many critics’ ten best lists but I’ll bet Oscar ignores it outside of the Tech Awards.
