So, she solves this problem by killing? What about the next problem? “Eh, fuck it. Kill him, too!” And the next? And the one after that? One/five/ten years down the line, does she still remember that she didn’t want to be Joker’s shadow anymore?

You should never have to justify your love for superheroes. I have no idea how old you are - going by what you’ve said so far, I’m guessing early 30's? Ish? If you’re a person in your 30's reading Silver Age type stuff, where it’s like Riddler was saying, nobody got hurt, not really... tame by today’s standards, you

It’s from a story called “When is a Door: The Secret Origin of The Riddler” by Neil Gaiman, first published in Secret Origins Special Vol 2 #1 (1989)... good luck if you wanna read it, I never found more than a few panels. Here are some reprints mentioned.

Batman was never really about fighting crime, or protecting people though — Batman is a crutch used by a shattered person. An addiction. What he does is to help himself feel better, not to actually make things better.

Good lord that’s perfect. What’s that from? Going by the style, that’s got to be early/mid-80's?

Yeah I’m kind of annoyed in vernal by how everyone keeps asking why Batman doesn’t just kill the Joker. We shouldn’t be asking that, we should be asking why the state hasn’t executed the Joker by now? Why is it Batman’s job to be judge, jury, and executioner? The Joker has proven time and time again that he is far to

Your problem with the modern age reminds of this.

I respect your opinion on this, and think Joker should’ve been offed a thousand times over.

Yup. Diana's job is spreading peace and understanding, and killing monsters. In that order. And some monsters are human.

Why isn't the state handling this, you know, like they're supposed to? I guess the difference is Batman believes the system can still be saved as long as it's given a little help. Honestly Bruce would probably do more good making a run for Governor than putting the cape back on, if he has so much belief in justice and

Sorry, but I don’t buy that argument at all. “I’m not going to kill the mass murderer who also turned me into a murderer because that’s what he wants” is weak sauce writing to justify keeping a popular villain alive. Paul Dini did it better when she actually pulled the trigger only to realize the gun was a prop. That

Wonder Woman would have skewered him in about twenty seconds.
Hell, aren’t the Authority in regular DC universe now? Let the Joker meet Midnighter or Apollo and that will be the shortest ‘battle’ in comic history.

What’s the sound of Joker’s brains being punched out of his anus? I dunno, but this one-panel fight uses

If you were manipulated and brainwashed into doing every bad thing you ever did, the last thing you’d want is to ever be manipulated into doing something again— particularly something by the person who put you where you are in the first place. I totally get why she doesn’t do it. Batman, less so. But I think her

And since when did Batman have a code against paralyzing the Joker from the neck down? hard to enact master plans when you can’t move or speak.

The Red Hood was 100% correct in that all the blood was actually on Batman’s hands since he never dealt with the Joker, even in a way that still let him not kill anyone.

Really

I’ve mentioned this before but pre-crisis there was actually a story where The Joker was thought dead and a guy began committing crimes pretending to be him. BUT...the more he did it, the more like The Joker he actually became. For me that was a perfect opportunity to put the old one to rest and start with a new one.

I’m actually okay with the “no killing” code for superheroes. What I find unbelievable is that no cop ever said, “Gee, thanks, Batman! We’ll take it from here!” and then pumped the Joker full of lead the second Batman’s back was turned and claimed he was ‘resisting arrest’.

b) they’ve just upped The Joker’s bodycount to the point I can’t see any pleasure in the character any longer.
