Of course, some point out that men who openly think like this may be doing the women of the world a favor.

I’m not a restaurant employee. And I still think your story was boring.
Yup. I defended him from someone’s criticism earlier, on one point of his story, but after seeing the other 3 dozen posts he’s made since then and reading this review, no more sympathies!
You know from reading this column that food service workers put up with a LOT, from bosses, co-workers and especially customers. Probably the worst part of it all though, is how dehumanizing it is. As a server, you’re a regular person with a unique personality, people who love you and hopes and dreams and feelings.…
Haha, that review is amazing. I noticed there were a couple of things in the review that he managed to conveniently leave out of this post:
Right, I feel like, really you read this article regularly and you haven’t picked up on what servers put up with and how much you fit the description of the typical customer who expects servers to bow and scrape for your pennies? Like, an instance of having to wait 20 minutes for the check and the waiter ignoring you…
Oh thank god - I was really confused by this. I’m British (in the US) and thought that whisky must have meant something secret that no one had told me. I’d always specify the whisky if I I wanted just that, or expect the bartender to know what I wanted if it was in a cocktail (e.g. sazeracs go with rye, OFs with…
Yeah I think you and I are pretty much on the same page. I will say though that I knew what “neat” meant way before the difference between bourbon and whiskey. It’s a common term that isn’t really restrictive to a a specific spirit, and should be as commonplace as knowing what “on the rocks” means. But that’s just me.
Can I just say that after all of that, I’m really disappointed that your story wasn’t just trolling?
Except I’m a bartender and don’t know anyone trained who would make that mistake. Obviously the guy was not trained, a lot of these places (theaters, art galleries) hire temps to tend bar, and the temp agencies will send anyone who is old enough to serve and says they know aout bartending. What he was doing is…
Ok, yell at me for violating Pinkham’s law all you want, but Bourbon and Scotch are types of whiskeys. What he did would be the equivalent of going into a pet store, asking for a mammal, and ridiculing someone for bringing out a dog or a cat. Sorry, but that guy is a moron.
