Maybe its time we put “hard-core” to bed. In the end you prefer a game with a unoptimized engine, with a poor UI and a harder learning curve. It doesn’t necessarily make it more “hardcore” or not. After watching PUBG for so long, I have a lot of trouble embracing the cartoon environment in fortnite. I also think the building feature is corny as hell. Also of note regarding Battlegrounds’ accessibility: it requires a lot more knowledge of military weaponry, and the UI is ugly, unintuitive, and just about as unoptimized as the rest of the game. (I’m still amazed the game’s main menu is just a glorified web browser running on an HTML backend.)
