I think he’s more so referring to the fact that he doesn’t have to physical carry a child. He doesn’t have to choose between having a child and essentially sitting out an entire year for pregnancy/recovery or choosing to not have children. It’s kind of hard to divide the revenue from gate attendance for both genders, but I’ll say the argument has more merit than the “women only play 3 sets, they don’t work as hard” one. The women would gladly play 5 sets but the tournaments don’t want them to.
I honestly think the whole ‘hormone’ portion of his answer was him saying, as delicately as he could muster in a non-native language, “I bet it sucks to have to play tennis while on your period.” Which is probably true.
I completely agree with Djokovic here. I watch both men’s and women’s tennis. It’s one of the only sports where the difference in size and strength doesn’t have a huge effect the quality of the match/game. However, men’s tennis is generally more enjoyable. If they bring in more money, then they should be paid more.…
