I do love the Grey Wardens, but I also think it’s cool that they’re willing to explore different aspects of the setting with each game. I would have bored to tears if Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition were just about fighting Blights again!

It’s been ten years and I still hate the Indoctrination Theory.
That’s an in-character ethos, and shouldn’t be taken as a description of the genre as a whole.
Or maybe the person who has actually played the game has a perspective that we don’t, since, you know, we haven’t played the game yet.
On the whole, though, cyberpunk is a decidedly left-leaning genre, so for this game to abandon its roots would be disappointing.
The title of the post is “30 Hours With Cyberpunk 2077 Leaves Mixed Feelings.” Presumably Riley is working on the full review.
Man, if you have to play a decades old tabletop RPG to understand the plot of a video game, that’s not great.
Do I just have a radically different definition of cyberpunk than you? I know stuff like the The Matrix leans pretty hard into the action, but it’s not edgy for the sake of being edgy.
Cyberpunk is a pretty “political” genre, so it’s disappointing that one of the biggest cyberpunk releases maybe ever doesn’t have anything interesting to say.
This isn’t a review.
I mean, if you read someone’s honest overview of a game and are no longer excited for it, that’s on you, not the reviewer.
It’s really sad that cyberpunk seems to mean “style over substance,” because most good cyberpunk stuff has a ton of substance. Ghost in the Shell? Neuromancer? The Matrix? Yeah, those all have a lot of style, but they all have something to say, too.
I think it’s fair to want GOOD representation and not just ANY representation. As a bi dude, for example, I’m not excited to see more bisexual male villains and would like to see more positive bi characters.
I would recommend checking the Cyberpunk 2077 subreddit, if you want to see people who are decidedly overhyping the game, probably to their own detriment.
“World leaders did what he asked and America was better for it.”
America was absolutely not better off because of Ronald Reagan. Dragging his feet and enabling the AIDS crisis, Iran-Contra, economic policies that destroyed many Americans’ financial security...the list goes on and on.
Just because the Boomers look back…
...yeah, you’re right? America is an imperial power and has done some absolutely heinous shit, both in our own country and abroad. I’m not debating that fact.
Kotaku has always been like this, man. You’re full of shit. That’s part of why I like it!
I wasn’t alive when Ronnie Reagan was President. I do have to live in the America his policies created, though, and that place fucking sucks.
Ugh, can’t wait for the flood of people at work who think they have a card worth $20,000 when it’s in terrible condition, not graded, and usually not even the right version of the card!
Out of curiosity, why is spending my time, energy, and physical effort working retail not considered “selling my body,” but sex work is?
Yeah, why should we worry about when a massively popular author with a huge platform and audience starts “asking questions” about trans people in a way that trans people say actively harms their existence?
