people mid-20's and under probably don’t even know about goldeneye 64. but who shit your cheerios?

obligatory:

haven’t played since heavensward (did buy the next xpack) and logged in during the recent free play campaign before the new xpack. it’s embarassing how much i forgot how to do everything / my old guild disbanded and i don’t have mates to play with anymore. i wanted to cry.

the game doesn’t even really need a chat feature. in the 40ish hours i’ve played, no one is using it to communicate about what’s actually going on in the game.

i could just tell he had an axe to grind in his bloodstained review... then that followup article was extra ridiculous.

this is super cringey.

I was hooked on blackout during the PC beta and probably played for 20+ hours that weekend. Then I bought it on launch and it just didn’t keep it’s hooks in me beyond a couple hours. The novelty wore off fast and these kind of gimmicks make feel validated for bailing so early.

Im gonna go ahead and say this is all on you.

what’s so confusing

i have to eat some crow on this one. i got burnt by mighty no. 9 and was one of those schmucks going “ooo this is gonna be mighty no. 10" - nah this game is good after all. SOTN is one of my all time favorite games, and this really scratches that itch through and through. i got to the final boss in about 10 hours but

i mean to say, i think this was ‘plan a’ all along.

kinda sketchy to me that he has a patreon and got all this free press for ripping off mario, then had the asset flip basically ready to go. seems calculated to me.

it looks a little generic? which i’m sort of fine with, days gone was a ‘sort of generic’ game i really enjoyed recently. i just let myself get a little more hyped than i should have.

hellblade was notable for it’s story telling and atmosphere (read: sound design). the combat was pretty awful tho, IMO. shallow, repetitive, non-engaging.

there’s certainly something to be said for having a singular vision (and what seems like serious big boy sony dollars).

i hear you. i just feel like companies with as much money and clout as EA / Epic should be able to do better. not being able to use the origin overlay in 2 year old games like star wars battlefront 2 (or the fact that it breaks your mouse input for many users) should be unacceptable.

big boys like EA and Epic can definitely do better though. the pace at which epic improves EGS is not impressive either, their roadmap already got pushed back.

have you looked at playnite? it seems like it would be better for people with smaller libraries and it’s open source since you’re into tinkering, might be worth a look for you. i definitely saw the potential.

i’ve really tried to give playnite (an open source all-in-one launcher) more than a fair shake, and ultimately all the little inconveniences had me back to using launchers independently in the end. hopefully gog’s approach is a little more streamlined, but i’m worried about feature bloat reading about it. i’m going to

yea, it appears they are taking a bath on this to generate goodwill, as well as attach people to their ecosystem
