Good catch! Fixed.

I think you mean The Last Airbender, and yes, he did. Though I like the idea that James Cameron insisted on getting the writer of The Happening to script the final installment of the Avatar movies.

I cut it for length, but I think Shyamalan deserves some credit for quality, here. For all the (correct) scorn for his recent films, people forget he's a masterful composer of shots, and simplicity plays to his strengths. Plus, he didn't write this —the biggest problem with all of his work—so he could do good work for

Check out Joshua Alston's pre-air review that I mentioned at the beginning. He addresses the multiple ways this show is paying homage to other shows. In his words, you could be forgiven for thinking that this show "exists solely to troll you." I don't think it's exactly hiding its homages.

Yep. Was re-watching and made the relevant edit.

Just want to point out I was pretty sympathetic to her until the second-to-last episode, where it just felt like she wasn't up to snuff, performance-wise. But I get shit for defending her or criticizing her regardless, which is fine. We all have our axes.

Interesting perspective re: the murders. I've always thought Bates Motel viewed itself as not really in that wheelhouse, with much more of an eye towards keeping the kills as mundane as possible, the better to go all Grand Guignol when it comes to the characters outsized displays of emotion (or at least Norma's).

Fair enough. "Her didn't-exactly-get-away-with-it rapist" is the new nom de plume.

Twenty bonus points for this reference.

I spent a good twenty minutes searching to see if that was the first time we've seen Norma in a suit and tie. Gave up when I realized it would delay posting even longer, but glad someone else is thinking about it.

Looking forward to seeing you here for the next season, Dale! And it's always good to see your takes on the characters, especially when you have a different view. And I have to say, very pleased to see a true Dylan/Emma 'shipper call out that hammy romance scene tonight.

Bob Paris was so good. I will very much miss his inappropriately timed laughs.

Once that scene started, I basically figured there was NO way it wasn't the same license plate. But nice work on confirming! It's good someone is all over the easter eggs.

You're also right about her Dorian Gray-like situation.

You're absolutely right. It's been fixed.

Yeah. Feel free to quibble about the "moment" he decides to leave, but it's definitely part of the precipitating events.

That was my first guess at the end of last week, but the layers of hallucination upon hallucination would be a bit off the charts if they tried to ret-con this as all being in his head.

Sorry, mssone! I promise it'll be back for the finale.

Thanks for making a push in defense of the show's most-disliked character! (No, really, I appreciate it, because you don't have much company.) I think you're probably on the right track, in terms of why the writers thought it would be a good move, but I can't help feeling like Cody—among others—was the same functional

Yeah, it seems Vegas odds are running 99-1 against anyone being happy about this.
