I love Vin Diesel. I would watch him mumble-read the phone book.

I thought it was hilarious. It reminded me of the some of the great season two nonsense plotting, where it's just a big old Deus Ex Machina any time the writers need something to happen. And the explanation made me laugh a lot. DOWNLOADING.
I think it'd be really disappointing if they tried to off Norma any other way. But I will keep some of the Freudian bullshit, while dispensing with the "mom's fault," bullshit, because the show has been great about evading that.
Let's rename Gunnar "Hilarious Deus Ex Machina Plot Device."
Ugh, don't even get me started on Professor Smarmy. I like Joshua Leonard, but that character is just a big NO. My partner is convinced he's hired by the bad guys, but I only wish it were that interesting.
Agreed. "Realization of his latest blackout", not "having a blackout." He 100 percent knows what's going on.
Didn't mean to imply we've seen the last of Caleb. Definitely meant to imply that i HOPE we've almost seen the last of Caleb.
I'm crossing my fingers they're better than that, but the writers seem to genuinely regard the pot wars as a legitimate distraction. I really hope they're trying to correct that oversight.
I actually went back and forth on this. For the time being I've decided to call him Dylan Bates to call out a particular thematic I think the show is toying with, but thank you for calling this out! I will mention it in next week's review.
The Caleb thing is so weird. The show has bent over backwards to try and make it seem like he's just a sad desperate guy trying to do right by his kid, but here we are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Yeah, that was another thing that annoyed me about the whole Annika-death red-herring thing: it was so obviously set up to deliver unto us this VERY. IMPORTANT. MYSTERY. The show better do some legwork to get the Arcanum Club connected to the Bates Motel PDQ.
That could be a regular part of The Norma And Emma Detective Agency.
Yeah, the whole Big Brother Secret Six strategy this year was a bit much, but it was also so silly that it didn't get as annoying as I worried it would. I would love to see a format change that essentially negates the value of social manipulation tactics.
Wow. I completely had not realized that was her until you mentioned it. She WAS good in that!
I think Emma so desperately wants everything to be okay that she's willing to overlook those moments, or to chalk it up to beginning-to-date nerves. Part of what makes Highmore's performance so great is that he really sells the moments when he's present and enjoying himself, making it that much easier for Emma to…
To be fair, for most of season one and part of season two the show itself wasn't sure either.
Carbonell and Farmiga play off each other so well. Given how quickly this show usually dives into anything the least bit promising, I have to admire their restraint in this one area.
That was almost the exact sentence I uttered out loud, watching that scene. "Wow, look, I wonder wha-oh."
I chatted with him once for a few minutes after a BR show in Chicago. He was absolutely charming.
I like to think that I Love My Computer was the moment that Todd Rundgren stopped giving a shit about making the album sound good. But yeah, at least it has Believe It.
