Service areas that would have been fine with a minor facelift were torn down and replaced with brand new, poorly designed facilities and contracted to a chain restaurant known for not operating on Sundays - a day that people often use the Thruway for travel.

The NYS Thruway is a toll road, that is why there is food, gas, and such at the rest areas/service areas. You can get off at another exit to get food if you like, but you’ll end up paying tolls to get on and off each time. 

I always liked the music they used in Homicide. Especially their use of the Kinks Well Respected Man in the the episode “Colors”.

The Ref is indeed awesome and sadly was forgotten long before the Spacey’s fall from grace.

It’s a self-contained story (as opposed to an episode of a television show), so it’s basically a movie with a short runtime.  As are the other Christmas specials on this list.  

I figured The Ref would get snubbed, so it’s my duty to tell everybody to watch The Ref. In terms of dark Christmas comedies, I love it more than Bad Santa.
