Susan Faludi’s book “Backlash” has a great section on the sexism that went into making Fatal Attraction, Michael Douglas’s horrible remarks and attitude toward women when discussing the film, and the test audiences intervening in order to make Glenn Close’s character more unbalanced and less relatable.

It would have helped if the scriptwriters wrote any decent dialog. Yes, the Divergent books were a rather derivative YA dystopia series with mediocre writing, but it was practically Shakespeare compared to the film versions.

The book was very funny, was my takeaway. I’m kind of a shallow reader. Particularly the dialog between the parents and their “postmodern” children, as the book jacket describes them. Sounds like the movie is pretty faithful in that regard.
