I wondered how long it would take for consumers to sour on their business model of buying used cars and charging thousands of dollars more than brick and mortar dealerships. Carvana is the Ticketmaster of used cars.

Dealerships use tools like Autoniq and Vincue to leverage market data and establish these “market” prices. Neither they or the manufacturers are pulling numbers out of their asses. Manufacturer incentives to dealers are part of the pricing models and are extremely well researched.
