Aurora Shepard. I mainly thought it was a good and fitting name for a spacefarer. Susan Calvin is my favorite name for a female character in sci-fi, but "Susan Shepard" just wasn't working for me. Nor was another fallback, Mavwyn, a name that goes back to my MUSH/MUD days.
