So what, if I sit down and review songs it's ok, but not if I showcase people's music in a DJ mix? And btw, I do have a very good day job, the DJ thing I do for fun.

The new product is their video. That's what I'm saying. Me using a song in a mix does the same thing, just in a slightly different way. I use maybe 1-2 minutes of each song when I make a DJ mix, and if people like a song, they can always find a track list and go buy said song if they like to. Even though I'm not

I know right? It's not like someone is going to listen to a DJ mix and say "oh, I like this song, but I don't have to buy it because I can just listen to this 1 minute portion of it in this mix I found for free" - if anything they will be inclined to buy a song they hear in a mix if they like it... The whole thing is

Awesome, just checked out some of your mixes, very cool and different. I play more house music, and commercial (wish I didn't have to as much, but it's kind of required when you're spinning at night clubs). The SF pride mix is nice, I played during our Pride here in VA too :)

In defense of YouTube, I think they are just obliging by other people's copyright claims, which is annoying in itself, but it's either doing that or it's taking a big hit with a law suit probably... I think the laws need a complete overhaul.

I completely agree with what you're saying. The whole thing is really screwed up. And what gets me is, where does it stop? Will I be stopped from playing certain songs in the club for instance? I mean what is the difference really, people can either tune into my YouTube page and hear a mix, or they can go to my club

Hmm, now that you mention it it was Soundcloud, sorry about that. I should get a Mixcloud account for sure.

It's impossible to profit from uploading mixes because they never allow you to get any monetary profits from uploading anything with others' content in it. That's not how most DJs make their profit either - but it's a great tool to spread your work and get gigs, etc. Besides, how is it different from taking certain

Of course, not saying Kotaku should talk about that aspect, I'm just saying that there are a lot of people in the same boat when it comes to copyright annoyances. Just because someone relies on this specifically as a living doesn't mean there should be different rules for that person as opposed to me, that's kind of

Well, I agree that it's ridiculous, but I'm experiencing very similar things where I try to upload remixes or mashups of songs, and because you have elements of original songs in there they get flagged...

I have found that Mixcloud can be similar as well. I tried uploading a mashup I did and it was automatically taken down right away. It's so stupid...

I'm sorry but I don't really see how this is different from someone being flagged for having music in their videos. I'm a DJ and one way of spreading my mixes and music is uploading it to YouTube. More often than not my videos get flagged for copyright and are either muted or put under the 'This video is blocked in

I feel like they are right on the money. As cool as this thing is, I would never see myself buying one because of the reasons they list - I'd use it once or twice, and just like with the Wii, I'd grow tired of it right away. It takes up an incredible amount of space, which I don't have, and I couldn't play for more

If I could have sexual relations with any video game character, I would choose Joel. Dat beard.

Depends on how you define happy I guess.

At least he's lucky he didn't get what people usually get when they meet someone from Craiglist at a motel.

Sony is selling you? How much do you go for these days?

What's the difference between the black and the green boxes? Day-one edition and regular?

That's true... which sucks for people who grew up on them.

Yes! They need to come back!
