I appreciate the attempt, I'm not sure how much of that really comes across on the screen between a pretty over the top (awful) performance by the actress, and writing that basically turns her into a ridiculous Glorious Godfrey-esque supervillain.

Not even a complaint about the terrible neighbor character the poster above just reminded me of? She was awful, I can't even see how somebody count mount a defense of that one.
Most definitely! Though this does remind how terrible that character was on JJ…still probably the worst decision of these Netflix shows.
Superman Reborn is awfully, but I gotta say, if that Dini story wasn't included this week, I would have felt pretty annoyed. Those Mahnke splashes, beautiful as they are, took up WAY too much real estate.
I'm glad you said debatable, cause oof, did JJ ever drag in its final four episodes. Plopping a flashback episode right when the momentum is building was a *terrible* choice.
don't bother, seriously.
There's just a level of competence this one isn't rising to just yet, which shouldn't be surprising when you hire a late season Dexter showrunner. He's also overseeing the Inhumans show too, sigh.
Image is a victim of their own success, after they poached all of Marvel's great talent and put out a number of series by them, they don't have many other places to go to really wow people with these types of announcements. And half the time, the books don't come out, I'm still waiting on those Wimberly titles they…
I think it's fun so far, but not quite knocking me out, though the appearance of the Mobius chair and the weird sort of meta-stuff that Tomasi and Adams were doing really worked gangbusters with me.
They're probably trying to figure that out still. They need to make better use of that Sorrentino exclusive.
Remember when Soule was considered a promising writer after Swamp Thing and She-Hulk? Marvel just broke him I guess.
By the end of the first half, it gets where you're hoping it'll go, but it still can't quite overcome how unconvincing an action lead Finn Jones is.
Luke Cage is a weird animal. I think the first half is one of the best things they've put out - full of theme and resonance and great acting (from its leads anyway). That second half really tanks it though. I was in shock.
I read all the DC books as per usual, but I really have to say, Superwoman is one of the underrated gems of the entire launch. I'm sad Jimenez is leaving, but he went out with a perfect encapsulation of what the entire premise of that book was: the elevation of Lana to a starring character in a mythos where she's…
I'm struggling so bad with these Roberson Hellboys. I want to like them, but I just haven't really read one that I was like…okay this on the level of Mignola and Arcudi. The Visitor was fun though I guess, we'll see how that continues to evolve.
Sure, it's pretty bad, though I think SOME of the venom is unwarranted (it's not THAT much worse than the back half of Luke Cage or Daredevil Season 2). The first two episodes are the worst of the entire Marvel-Netflix canon though, holy shit.
Apocalypse is awful, don't spend too much money on it if you can help it.
There's some value in understanding the deep relationship between Logan and Charles, but that's about it.
Saw this two weeks ago, and I finally can say I love one of these X-Men movies. I've liked others, First Class namely. But this one I came out with the same feeling I had after Fury Road, just top-notch stuff.
Yeah, that's a good one too. A few too many fill-ins for my taste, but a nice preview of what was to come with Hawkeye (a book that used fill-ins much more to its advantage thematically I think).
