I'm with you, comparing Lee to say just about any DC Silver writer of the time, and it's clear how much better his work is. He actually imbued real pathos and personality into each character's voice. Arnold Drake is probably the only guy that was in his same ballpark at the time.

I do prefer the backhalf of Swamp Thing for those very stories you cite, but Moore seems to lose some interest - this was probably around the time he was in the midst of Watchmen and casting his eye towards alt-comix.

Yeah, I'll be curious to see how long I last before I just jump ahead, but I do get a thrill just looking at the art, which is light years ahead of some of the journeymen that were working at Atlas in the early 50's.

It's made up of four miniseries basically, they've got these nice hardcovers of the first three already out. You'll by the first one if it's something you'll dig or not.

The other thing they have in common is that they both start to peter out around halfway through.

Pretty good, probably the strongest Fraction thing depending upon how one might feel about Hawkeye.

Lee and Kirby on Thor as well
Levitz and Giffen on the Legion of Superheroes
The entire 90's Superman crew
David and Frank on The Incredible Hulk
Obviously Claremont and Byrne on X-Men, but also Claremont and whoever really within that 15 year run.

I think Casanova owes a slight debt to it.

There was supposed to be a Tim Seeley/Logan Faerber Blade comic recently, and it got cancelled out of the blue. Probably because Seeley signed that DC exclusive.

They don't use him much, though I think it's because he's probably not a monthly guy. He last showed up in Batman Beyond Rebirth of all things, and is doing one of the Kamandi Challenge issues (Issue #12 w/ Gail Simone)

Ryan Sook has been the go-to Kamandi guy for a bit now over at DC. Not sure how that pairing came to be, but I'm glad it keeps happening.

There's some stuff I really love in that Wednesday Comics series…namely that Flash bit from Fletcher and Kerschl (still the best thing they've done together).

Since I got back on Marvel Unlimited, I figured I'd read all the earliest Lee-Kirby-Ditko-etc superhero stuff, just for fun, but then I decided it might be more fun to check out the earlier issues of Strange Tales, Journey into Mystery, Tales to Astonish etc…I always found it neat that these iconic superheroes were

I appreciate Moore more than than I love his work, but I'll always be down to re-read his Swamp Thing and I think From Hell is the greatest single story ever put to the comic page barring anything from the Mignolaverse or Love and Rockets.

Ron Wimberly sure is great. He's top of my list for somebody that I wish Gerard Way would recruit for the next Young Animal series.

I'd visit the Books section more regularly. Unfortunately, these pieces get buried by Friday movie reviews and news on the main page.

The problem with the X-Men movies: there are so many characters, there are no characters.

Shaner is actually barely on the book. He has yet to draw a complete issue without a backup story, and he's only drawn around 4 pages of the last 4 issues. So that's been disappointing, and because of it, Parker has had to add in more back-ups, and as you say, lots of set-up to finally get to this last bit that I

Not big on Days, which has a novel concept, but the script is just…not strong. First Class, third act troubles aside, is pretty fun though and could have been a great way forward for that franchise if Vaughn stuck around. It's been so long since I've watched X2, I don't feel comfortable giving it much of a grade,

Yeah, Forager is a New Gods character, basically the guy that exists to throw shade at New Genesis and the denizens of Supertown
