The fight with David wins on sheer psychological horror. But I'm personally not a fan of the hotel basement: it's dark, underwater, filled with gigantic rats and stalkers… I start dreading it in Bill's town.

Yes! After this point, the show ups the body count, loses some of the nuance, and takes a hard left turn into something bordering on torture porn. I didn't think the show finally got itself righted again until the end of episode 12, and even then, it doesn't measure up to what we see here.
