That gear shift knob...

I remember reading when it first debuted that the car was designed around the semi auto gear box it has and that a traditional manual will not fit.

Nice find!

I will hunt you down and beat you about the head and shoulders if you rice this poor, unmolested car.

I win

I...almost couldn't tell if this was real or not. Then I saw who made the post.

Torch, sometimes I think you might just be a guy who somehow got access to Jalopnik's passwords and has been engaging in a low-level troll campaign ever since.

Emissions mostly. I'm guessing they're also trying to avoid carbon buildup that can plague DI systems.

Current price in my area, reg 1.99, diesel 2.99. At these prices the ram has a higher cost per mile then the Ford and will never make up the difference in purchase price. It would actually need to hit 30 mpg just to break even on a per mile basis with the Ford at 22 mpg.

YES!!! It drives me crazy when people are all "But a prius gets..." You have to drive a shit ton of miles to make it worth it based on a purely economic basis. Even on an environmental basis people could be missing the mark because hybrids are hard to take apart and recycle. Similar calculations work for diesel.

I have 330k miles on my AHU powered Jetta and 230k on my 06 WRX. I think the longevity thing is over stated. My Subaru has need way less work thus far at 230K than my TDI needed at the same mileage. Any regular gas car can go 250k if the transmission holds up. The era of clapped out V8s at 100k has been over for 20

The IRL fuel economy of the eco-diesel has been fantastic. Many hand calculations (miles driven divided by gallons put in the tank) have either matched or even beaten the EPA numbers. The EPA cycle is kind of weird: it usually over-estimates what a gas engine gets, and under-estimates what a diesel will do. Especially

I'm sorry, it cannot be unseen.

Technically that's a convertible.

Dear Stuttgart,

shotgun

I see a bidding war in your future. This and the Packard Super 8 are the only ones I'm interested in.
