i believe you are talking about some ideas of value. and 60$ for a 13 year old is really big, the game better be good and worthwhile for 60$. same for a parent with so little time on his hands.
but for some other gamers they might be happy with a 6-8 hour game for 60$. it's similar to the price of movie tickets.
The issue with that is that there are gamers who buy new games at $60 every single month and then there are gamers who buy $60 games once or twice a year. Y'know what I mean?
I don't think we can systematically tell you whether to play vs. buy without knowing your financial situation. Our writers can tell you in the review if they think the game is worth playing for a weekend or a month or a lifetime, I guess. But I think it's too subjective a call to have it be part of every review.
