Not only did she hike the whole trail, she’s also my girlfriend.

I backpack portions of the PCT all the time. Anybody who looks like a potential thru-hiker I take notice of because I am in awe and I want to check out their gear kit. Point is, it’s not just thru-hikers who should have seen her. LOTS of people should have seen her. Big sections of the PCT are backpacked by

I didn’t hike the PCT, and I can prove it.

Imperialist pig! Kim Jong Il really did have five holes in one! This is a Kinja declaration of war.

Just last week I had an argument with one of the students I consult with over a cover letter for a job app because he tried to pass off two years of intramural soccer as evidence of him being a “student athlete.” Not only was it not germane to the application, but it was a total distortion of the truth. He was upset

She should go into politics. “I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail.”

Nice article.

Like, I could MAYBE believe some rando normal, boring, not very memorable person could solo hike the PCT and have people not remember meeting them because they just left no impression. But a person in visible leg braces? No way.

The answer is obvious.

Hate to say it, but she wasn’t in near good enough shape to maintain a 30 mile/day pace without major support from the PCT community. If you look at her physical condition when she “started” at the South Terminus, besides her legs not working, there is no fucking way.

That shit just did not happen. No sentient human who’s been on the PCT in the PNW believes any of this. Her story doesn’t even approach Rosie Ruiz level of sophistication.

I saw her on the trail!

I just talked with her good friend and publicist John Baron and he said she did a beautiful, beautiful job and completed the trail big league, saving several small, fluffy animals from a forest fire in the process.

Thanks for this. It’s well reported. My trust in her story ended at the part where no other hikers anywhere reported having seen her. As I’ve seen in a few other forums regarding this story: yes it’s impossible to have evidence for every single step, but if you really did it, it’s also impossible for there to be no

Exactly. My cousin is doing the Appalachian Trail right now and his dad has been telling me amazing stories of the “family” atmosphere and camaraderie that the hikers have with each other and the trail angels that help out along the way. Her story is total BS.

I am in public and am laughing so hard people are looking at me...

Ask any 16 year old. If you don’t post every single moment of every single day on Instagram and Snap Chat, it didn’t happen.

I was raised not to stare at people who have disabilities, so maybe every hiker that passed her just kinda awkwardly looked the other way when she walked by.

The most insane part of this article to me is that people have the time to hike from March to November.
