There are many millionaires and a few billionaires in the Philippines - the oligarch class. We are only a poor nation because of runaway economic libertarianism (or neoliberalism, depending on which side of the political spectrum you fall on). The rest of us get trickled down with the scraps.

The import tax in the Philippines is 100%. You pay twice the sticker - hence the smuggling.

No problemo. Considering how popular Bernie Sanders’ progressive agenda is among even red state voters (more so the millenials who will outnumber both boomers and gen xers as a voting bloc by 2020), we’d be stupid not to.
