I think it’s because there are only a few actually competent, not idiotic people with head coaching jobs (Belichick springs immediately to mind). Everyone else is incredibly stupid, but has enough connections to be allowed to fail enough until they luck into a flukey good streak, which gets them promoted.

A couple weeks  ago, I would have won if I had started Carlos Hyde instead of Austin Ekeler. Christ, that was a depressing sentence to write.
