Your use of threats is pretty disgusting. Significantly worse, for example, than anything Maher said.

Are you saying there are things the AV Club comments section is not in charge of?

Nothing about this affects me directly. I like Real Time, so I'd prefer it not go off the air over what you yourself just said is kind of an excuse for haters to go after Maher, who is annoying but also I think a useful gadfly.

Sorry, that's also true about the self mockery. Not really the point, though.

No, but people on the internet don't need to police this issue.

Maher is always going to make people mad, but he's doing more to get people who disagree with each other to talk semi-civilly than anyone else I can think of, so I hope he stays on the air.

So, predictably, Maher apologizes and acknowledges that he went too far, but the callout squad has not had enough blood.

?

I think that from a philosophical standpoint, it's true that banning words is suboptimal. From a personal standpoint, it offends me when white people (I am white) use that one casually because it seems disrespectful to the cultural weight of that concept as expressed by white people historically.

Yep. Maher does a good job of demonstrating why being anti-PC doesn't totally work. There's nothing really offensive about the idea he was expressing, but the fact that he decided to make that point in literally the most offensive way possible suggests a weird lack of empathy.

Which maybe it was, which is nice, BUT…Barry is still an idiot.

Roger Ebert used to call this an Idiot Plot - a story that only works if all the characters are completely stupid.

So…there's a super secure place where flash powers don't work. What can be done to protect Iris? I JUST CANNOT figure it out…

Not as bad as the endless whining of the haters.

Huh. I can't think of any D.C. books I think of as better than passable right now. Detective Comics is ok, Batman is ok. Injustice 2 is pretty good. But mainstream DC is riddled with the worst comic tics. Everything is about mythology or the nature of reality, there's no status quo, every enemy is personally

Jesus, it's a comic book. It's a story. The story needs conflict and stakes to work. In a year or two, STEVE WILL NO LONGER BE A HYDRA AGENT. But right now, he is, because that's the plot. The only way it would be disrespectful is if the story was that Cap was a fascist forever and everyone realized that fascism

Evil Cap is fun. Dunno why watchmen are needed, but D.C. seems permanently warped from its heyday in the 1980s and early 1990s. Marvel comics are mostly still good.

Ah. And is Transformers 4 a better movie than Moonlight?

Agreed.

Dude there's like 35 years of og wolverines stories. Go read those.
