I was chatting to a vet who was saying about how that specific terminology is really unfair to both animal and owner. When pets get anthropomorphised like that it sets up weird behavioural expectations, apparently. Seemed a bit extreme of a take to me but I suspect there’s truth in it.

There is a single mention of Karl. But I don’t think you even finished reading my post, never mind the link, because you were too spitting mad about me slandering a truckload of racists. Ryan (rwhitegoose) admitted it was real, by the way. Can I also just say it’s a nice hill you’re choosing to die on over there.

Doesn’t gamedev just look grand at the moment?

Nah, there’s a big difference between a gory news clip and a film in which someone is murdered solely for the purpose of titillating the viewer. The latter being illegal, aside from anything else. Don’t mix up the two.

You don’t think that knowingly subverting the rules and flagrantly abusing the trust of others to achieve a hollow victory counts as mental or emotional harm?

Such a terrible movie, I love it.

everything else I’ve heard about the actual game makes it sound bland and cookie-cutter

God damn, that is an excellent post. You write anywhere else?

So here you’re trying to steer the conversation away from Burbank’s behaviour, and into the behaviour of others. I’m not surprised.

It’s a bit more understandable for someone applying for a job since developers sometimes withhold information, the game’s name included, to keep details about their early-stage projects from leaking prematurely.

I’ve seen a few videos of the Mortal Kombat games of today and they match what you’re saying, but my point wasn’t about the content, really. My point was about applying for a job that offends your sensibilities. I don’t know why anyone would do that - does any adult really not know whether animating gore day in, day

There’s just this bizarre sense of entitlement basically everywhere now, and it’s completely selfish and irrational.

I think it was last year that there was an article here with one of the artists for Mortal Kombat making a scene about how violent and bloody the art they were expected to create was. I still cannot fathom how anyone could play, much less apply to create, Mortal fucking Kombat without knowing that it’s a grotesquely

(Possible spoilers for FFVII and Soilent Green ahead!)

Oh. Thanks, man, that seems pretty clear cut.

Is this some kind of unwritten rules thing?

We’ve reached peak Kinja here, because I can see in my notifications that afriendtosell has replied to me, I can’t see it even under Pending in one browser, but it shows up in private browsing in another. Great.

Do you have any view on why people who can’t spare $9 prefer to pay $1 instead of $0? Given the broad availability of both free legal services and free illegal services I just don’t get why anyone today would knowingly prop up commercial piracy online instead.
