Interesting video.

I’m surprised to hear they used the ancient code of a known mediocre port, rather than just starting fresh and porting the console code correctly. I’d assume that getting the former to work properly (e.g. going in and adding bump-mapping by hand, for every texture required, in every level, as mentioned in the video) wo

I didn’t say that it did.

Your definition is too narrow.

Not really. I think that, colloquially at least, any aspect of a game where you’re paying for a significantly easier time is P2W. Cosmetics don’t do this, which is why people don’t tend to mind them - but being able to warp between locations without visiting a save point is clearly not cosmetic.

Thank you! Nintendo frequently get a pass for behaviour that would be widely excoriated if it was literally anyone else. It’s baffling, frankly. I love their games but that doesn’t insulate them from criticism.

which largely leaves me at my original assessment

Her facial expression is weirdly demure, yeah. Not very Mai.

You also have “Western anime” like RWBY and Castlevania. I believe both are fully written and animated by American/Western folks with no Japanese component to their creation (outside of obvious influences). I’ve tended to reserve the term anime” specifically for Japanese animation, but I guess I’ll have to adapt if

For me the big one is that here in the UK they’ve finally started charging VAT during payment for the item if it’s from overseas. I don’t have a problem with taxes and recognise that I’ve basically been dodging them for a couple of decades on ebay, but man that extra 20% still stings.

I’m not arguing in bad faith. It’s a weird accusation, since you hold the unusual opinion here, not me.

The combat in ME1 is dire. The combat in ME2, less so.

I like ME1 a lot. You don’t need to be a cover-shooting knucklehead to appreciate that ME2 was better in most respects, though.

“If it can’t be implemented via algorithm then we can’t be arsed” is the Silicon Valley approach, and it’s wearing thin on me.

I miss the ebay of old, when buying online was still such a novelty. You could get incredible deals if you went on at 4AM or poked around for misspellings.

“Mario is Missing” well he shouldn’t have tried taking British jobs from British people then should he

Get out of here with your nuance. We’re laughing at Birmingham, it’s a noble activity and one that must not be interrupted.

I was meaning to play the fan translation of the SFC game. I wonder how the translations differ?

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand - which I brought up as a joke in another post - seems to be shooting up, lots of $50 listings on eBay while it was $20 just last year.

I remember playing the game and feeling that it was just being hampered by the Wii hardware, that there was a decent if unexceptional platformer inside that would’ve benefited from tighter controls and better performance.
