“Full height” refers to the doors’ height compared to the train. They don’t enclose the train area - as your example shows, air is shared inside and out of the doors once you get above 8 feet.

I’m all for cutting the NYPD ridiculous budget, but air conditioning an open-air system is just a waste of money. Run your AC with every window & door in your house/apartment open and see how well the AC does and how high your power bill is.

When I flew a lot in 2004, I would be in one airport that didn’t make me take my shoes off, then, on my return flight that airport would. I always said, if it’s a valid procedure, then it should be done everywhere.
