There’s a good chance the CLS53 is RWD, while the M550i is only available in xDrive. So that could account for some of the difference.

“It has the kind of steering that BMW does its best to emulate in its new cars..”

60-0 in 114ft for something that weighs almost 3 tons? Must be some damn good tires

Hmm, I was thinking it was one of those “lemme just use the same sponge/mitt to wash the wheels and the paint at the same time”, complete with circular movement and forceful scrubbing!

He needs to polish that paint before selling, damn! I can see the hazing in that 800x600 picture!

The main thing BMW has going for them right now is they still offer manual transmission with RWD. That and their engines are still surprisingly potent and smooth. The problem is that Cadillac offers manual/RWD now, Lexus does a sporty chassis much better, and Audi has them beat on interior quality...

What year? Hoping my girlfriend’s 2015 won’t suffer the same fate...

They used a flat six instead of a boxer six?

The differences in the way this video is presented by Jalopnik and Road&Track are interesting. I like that Jalopnik points out that this car was previously modified. I’m surprised RCR doesn’t call attention to that, unless he just wants to downplay the car so that their used prices finally drop and he can pick one up

Definitely sucks that imsa.tv wouldn’t stream the race in the US...

I’ve driven the new GS350 FSport and any number of the newest BMWs with various packages, a couple Audis and Mercedes too. The GS w/ FSport is the best one on the market. It’s the most engaging to drive (despite auto only) and has the best build quality.

Looks sharp. I had the chance to buy one a few years ago, for less than the used 328i I was actually getting too! Little did I know what I was really missing out on...

Unfortunately, you couldn’t be more wrong. The new BMW chassis are laughable in comparison to even a base golf in terms of the qualities you listed. If this was 2005 though I think you’d be right.

Are they using prius tires for the sole purpose of 4WD burnouts? If this is going to be a fast car in a straight line, they’re going to need better tires.

My bad, I meant 500cc per cylinder.

Did the upsizing have anything to do with the concept of “500cc is the optimal displacement”? Interesting that it performs better on emissions than the 3.8. I know that recently manufacturers are realizing super small displacement isn’t the way to go (a la 1.3L 4cyl), but I figured there’d be diminishing returns once

So, does this count as “built not bought”?

What should I look for if I wanted to pick one up used? I think this is my favorite generation for the Civic as well.

Literal much? The point is AWD doesn’t help you stop.

I agree, the 4runners are great. The problem is, in the north at least, the rust will make those not great at all.
