Not sure what you’d consider recent, but Walk Hard is a fantastic spoof of musical biopics. It works both as a spoof and as a film in its own right.

There isn’t enough hyperbole to describe her brilliance. She made the art form significantly better for her participation.

I can see Cracker having a Katya or Trixie kind of situation, where she doesn’t necessarily crush it during her season, but does super well outside of RPDR and then maybe makes top 3 in an All-Stars season.

My main issue with Guardians 2 was how weirdly mean-spirited and grating its sense of humor was (particularly concerning Mantis), but I agree with you. It shouldn’t have been a Peter Quill movie but a Gamora/Drax movie.

I’ve been interested in seeing a Thor movie with the female version, but then I remembered that Natalie Portman played Jane Foster in those movies; and she didn’t try very hard in the role. Though, I think if she was playing the main hero, she might actually act.
