Dropbox is not a backup service per se. Its a syncing service. With Dropbox if a file that you are syncing up to dropbox. gets deleted off your computer, unknowingly that file will also be deleted off Dropbox. A backup service would not delete that file.

It is worth bearing in mind that Dropbox isn't a backup solution (unless you go with the team version). It just syncs files, so if it is deleted in one place it is deleted in the cloud. Have a look at CrashPlan for backup: it is cheap and has saved my bacon a few times.

It's good for devs looking to test out their apps, but it's good for lots of other things. Many people are uncomfortable with the idea of using non-Play stores, and this is a great way to try out some of the alternatives.

No because then you're not allowed to leave comments to warn others how crappy something is, like Dreamhost, for example. Worst frickin' web host experience I've ever had.
