This is a pretty good comment but I think we can trim it down.

What a joke. Half the Golden Age writers worked for either the DoD or defense contractors at some point or another (Asimov, Heinlein and L Sprague de Camp all worked together at the Naval Air Experiment Center; Heinlein in the Navy itself; Niven - SDI, DHS and others; Pournelle - who can count? Army, Boeing, Aerospace

I enjoyed the movie overall but wasn’t crazy about the production design. Seemed a little too austere. I missed the baroque stylings of the Lynch version.

Also sacking and pillaging. And quaffing.

As an old AND a person who has worked with electronics and sensors for 30 years, I would rather DRIVE MY FUCKING CAR and not rely on buggy equipment and software to do it for me

Having an “advanced driver assistance” system that is JUST good enough to drive the car right up until the moment it can’t is idiotic. Humans are not wired to work very well in that sort of situation.

That is what I was here to ask too. I think we all care more about it than anyone else in this story.

So how’s the dog?

This frankly goes to show the risks that the troopers are under in just normal duty. If they hadn’t done what they had done, this car would have plowed into potentially an occupied vehicle and caused further injuries. It’s not just violent criminals that threaten lives, but inattentive drivers.

I know this will seem politically incorrect and I will face the wrath of the entire US population — which, Hi Population! — but as a matter of principle I have to say, Yuan Fang sounds like a dumb douchebag.

Tesla gets the flak because people are overhyping the possibility of true self-driving cars. If a self-driving car can’t be trusted to not hit a humongous bright red fire engine, it clearly can’t be trusted for any hands-off operation at all.

Pretty sure Gruden is eventually going to go plaid.

It aint about brains son, its about HEART

He got the same grace period.

It’s a lot easier to do die at 47 when you are using a helmet that doesn’t protect your brain.

He got a grace period, the article is wrong. Last year was his grace period, just like Rodgers and Brady.

How we got to this point:

It’s a 0.8 mile ride in a car with 14 other people. Who would have sex in--oh, Vegas.

It’s impossible to get a follow! Getting starred will get a comment out of the greys, but being science-literate and/or clever and/or humorous and/or nice is apparently not enough to get a person out of the greys.

I had a student who came to class late five times in one semester.  Each time, she had time to stop at Dunkin’ Donuts first.  She could not comprehend why that was wrong.  I would love to send her to boot camp.
