I had to pause the episode and scream with laughter when Blaine showed up in the old age makeup. Had to pause several more times, particularly when he mentioned Dr. Zaius. That sequence was simply delightful.

For the first half of the episode I just kept gritting my teeth, "Everyone else is speaking normally but you made the brown guy do an accent? COME ON NOW." Nice payoff.

Feels a little gauche to highlight this line in what was an overall serious episode, but damn if it didn't make me literally LOL: "…someone with dark hair. And breasts. You have both. Or all three, depending on your maths."

I think you're right about that - and it might not be a bad thing, because what makes a great, watchable tv show isn't always what makes a really great novel. I need to stop trying to map every tv plot development back onto the books; I'm sure I'll enjoy the show more that way.
