I prefer grifter myself

Shill, yes! See also: huckster - especially : one who sells or advertises something in an aggressive, dishonest, or annoying way

Call me old-fashioned, but I find the word ‘influencer’ to be unnecessary when we already had the word ‘shill’, which was a perfectly good word for the exact same thing.

I taught undergraduates at a modest state school in the southeast.

I watched it recently for the first time in decades. This thing is, I know every line, nuance, and beat so well I honestly can’t objectively tell how it’s aged. I will say the effort and mastery Ed O’Neill put into his two little scenes is just astonishing. It’s a legit captivating performance that just comes and goes

Nope. It was USD. Wrap your brain around that.

I jokingly also wonder why bribe your way into USC, if you’re dropping a half million to bribe your kids way in, why not shoot for an Ivy or at least Stanford?

Yeah, it’s out of date. USC used to be everyone’s fall-back school. Some time in the late-’90s to early 00s things suddenly shifted in a big way. It’s now much, much harder to get into than it was 25 years ago.

Well clearly your SAT scores did not help you understand the differences between state schools and private schools. USC is not a state school. UCLA has harder admissions than almost any UC.

USC is a private school (you can tell because it doesn’t start with UC for the University of California school system) and both USC and UCLA are pretty hard to get into especially given the quantity of out of state & foreign applicants who pay full sticker price. So no, most CA applicants don’t get in for “free”. Most

Technically no as Anonymous wrote. But, Stanford is more prestigious than all but Columbia, Princeton, Harvard, and Yale at this point and it is in the conversation with these 4.

Now playing

“A lot of rich people aren’t really that smart.”

I mean this in the best possible way, but yeah, you are sounding like an asshole.

I’m one of those people with an ability to take standardized tests and do really, really well, but they’re not nearly as easy as you portray. Kids of decent intelligence and good early academic opportunity can sincerely apply themselves, get the most expensive prep courses and tutors, take practice tests for years—and

Half a million to get her daughters into USC! I mean, I went there, and it’s a nice thing to have on your resume if you work in California, but it’s not exactly Harvard.

LOL. USC is not Ivy League. Is Stanford even?

Rich people paying bribes to fudge their children’s athletic accomplishments
in order to get in to the best colleges is the most American fucking thing ever.

Whoa! whoa! whoa! Get those facts out of here! Our President got opinions!!!

If the black box always survives the crash, then why don’t they just make the plane out of the black box? Duh!
