The downside of time-jumps I guess. Although I don't see why writers seem set on filling in so many of the gaps on the first episode back.

We've already played that angle in the finale… didn't work out very well for Elliott.

Yeah, but there's no reason for him to introduce himself to them if the plan is just to off them… I suspect shenanigans!

It's the approach I always thought The Simpsons should take. Fair enough if they're stuck in arrested development, but it would mix it up a bit to explore slightly longer arc than 22 minutes allows. Personally I'd age all the kids up a couple of years.

My heart :'( That was ABC Family… but I suppose it still counts.

I would love Purge: Dinner Time, where over the course of a night, an uptight middle-class family, forced together by consequence slowly resolve their issues… by murdering each other.

I wonder how many trucks loaded with illegal drugs are revving their engines on the Mexican border, and how many trucks loaded with prescription drugs are doing the same on the Canadian border in the minutes before purging.

Maybe it'd just start with gentle shoving the first year, then a few papercuts the second…

Wouldn't it just work like live sports? 8pm Central Time, 9pm Eastern or something…

She is pretty much playing Elizabeth Warren, so it stands.

Ah, but if you're planning to commit it on purge night, then it wouldn't be planning a crime because on purge night it's not a crime. You'd just be planning a legal activity.

There's an interesting idea… if you worked in a prison, how long until you just go around shooting fish in a barrel for all the inmates you don't like? Would super-max prisons end up being effectively emptied once a year?

It's more interesting for the thoughts it provokes than for what's actually on the screen.

"It's the principal of the thing!"
"Ahem, I think you mean 'principle', haha."
"No, the principal of the thing… whaddya call it… school… he's stood behind you."

You wouldn't even need to go to the country, just make your way to an embassy and then you're no longer on American soil, so their laws don't apply.

How long until the MPAA pushed to turn the internet off that night though…

It should be Capitol.

The stated reason is something about lowering crime by condensing it all into one night and thus lessening the strain on emergency services. The real reason seems to be to kill all the poor.

I just watched it tonight and it's a solid b-movie in both senses of the term.

Totally. Just go hacking crazy from the comfort of your own home.
