Overall what she said was good, but the “don’t expect things to be handed to you” sat wrong with me. It’s very close to the accusations thrown at people who were able to lift themselves up with the help of affirmative action. None of it’s about being handed anything, it’s about leveling the playing field.
Oh come on, this was pretty fucking funny. There were a lot of solid jokes among the typical Stefon-isms. When he called Colin and Michael “Moonlight and LaLa Land” I was howling.
I don’t know how over/unders work, so I’ll just say “yes”.
20th century American writer of note E. B. White once quipped, “Explaining a joke is like dissecting a frog. You understand it better but the frog dies in the process.”
Yeah, I don’t like McKinnon much, outside those alien abduction sketches. Most of her performances rely upon her endlessly wild staring eyes. Cecily Strong, on the other hand, has some real acting chops.
I don’t know, I thinkthis was miles better than Jessica Chastain. At least Sterling had some comic energy about his performances. Jessica to me was more in the “ look, I can be funny too (makes funny faces)“ vane.
It seems his real middle name is Kelby, which is only a little less embarrassing than Kathleen.
Didn’t expect Vanessa to bring back Dawn Lazarus so unexpectedly, but goddamn, was I giddy with excitement to see her back on my screen.
And not that it should matter but plenty of Quakers, Anabaptists and Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t sing the anthem or stand for the pledge either, thanks to religious freedom...
Hannibal had its episode pulled back in the 1st season after the Boston bombing. Wasn’t political, it was just full of sick shit involving kids.
I checked and there was an episode of Law & Order: SVU that was shelved, last year. It involved sexual misconduct allegations of a Trump-like presidential candidate (played by Gary Cole!)
That athletes kneeling during the national anthem is even controversial makes me sad-ish.
Yeah...I am an actual Black woman. Not young, but not So Old. I surround myself with other Black women, some of whom are younger than me. Black men who will not date fully Black women, and Black men who are doing well who will date anything but Black women, is still a thing. The devaluing of Black girls and women is…
I’m sorry but you are absolutely foolish if you believe that anything about that episode was exaggerated or untrue or outdated.
Is anyone going to ask men about #metoo or is it only potential female rape victims who get interrogated endlessly as to whether they’ve been raped? Maybe she feels she can’t afford to be truthful. What an ungrateful dumb bitch.
I’m always surprised by the contestants (men or women) being upset about anything that happens on this show. Yes, Arie is gross and maybe emotionally manipulative, but the basis of this entire show is emotional manipulation! All these women including all of the Beccas and all of the Laurens signed up to ‘fall in love’…
Nice body, but still just see him as the kid from the Wire.
I was about to correct that his name was Michael Vaughn not Vartan, which would have been awkward.
I'm a black woman, I'm a feminist/womanist, and I babble about intersectionality. One of my favorite episodes of Dear White People was when they focused on Gabe, the white ally who is dating the protagonist. It's really easy for me to look at allies as one-dimensional and not understand that they do have thoughts and…
