As the owner of a Mazda RX-8 and my more ‘reliable’ STI, I would probably get along with this guy. People like us who gravitate to these maintenance nightmares are a special kind of person/stupid. In fact, one of my good friends from back in MI is probably on par with this fellow. He owns:

These look like they would be perfect for a rotary engine. The necessity of having to recess the plugs results in a shrouded spark plug that is incredibly inefficient. This design looks like it could ignite much closer to the actual housing and provide a much cleaner, more efficient burn.

I played football through college as well (D3 offensive tackle) and I can relate to that frustration, especially with the teamwork concept. My big peeve is ‘find something to do’. This was going to be my suggestion.  I am even considering one myself if my commute ends up going from 15 to 65 miles like it might in Oct.  

It was the 3.7n/a. Provides a ~25hp bump over the civilian 3.5. If it was an Ecoboost, I'd probably still have it.

Its very Spartan obviously. The seats have no bolster because officers have to drive with duty belts on, but they are very comfortable. But a big negative is that there is no armrest. There are different center console options for regular use that look ok, but some have bolsters and some do not.

As for me, I liked to purchase my cars from the Michigan State Police and all carry this certain shade of blue:

I drove a Fusion Hybrid for a little over two months waiting for a stupid title-issue to get sorted on the STI that I bought. It was a pleasant, unoffensive, comfortable commuter. I would definitely recommend one to someone who would want an affordable hybrid.
