While not directed at a single particular car, there is a group of people who I have come across who I call the ‘Car-Show Super-Competitor’. These are the guys who enter car-shows for nothing other than winning trophies and plaques to claim they have the ‘best car’ (That never actually gets driven)

Me? I’m indifferent, but I only deal with it the rare occasion I drive my wife’s 17 Highlander.

This is something that I think many gearheads run into no matter the community.

This I can’t argue with. I have become an avid autocrosser and what I’ve learned in the short time I’ve done it is that you can have fun in whatever. I drive my STX rx8 and love it, my friend has a 220k mile del sol that burns oil and his exhaust broke on our way to the last event. He still had a better PAX than me.

This is easy. Saab Turbo-X Sportcombi manual:

First, I FINALLY got my airbag recall completed in my RX-8. Hopefully I will never have to use them.

Me too. If one is going to extract more efficieny out of a gasoline engine, this seems like the next progression.

This is tough.....

For me it’s anything Mazda rotary. I can manage eyerolls from even my closest automotive friends when I really get on a roll.

I would buy that.

Ugh *facepalm*

Great article as usual. You provide some of the most sensible car-buying advice on the internet.

This comment needs to be higher! Star for you sir!

Different strokes as far as I’m concerned. I had a Pontiac Fiero that ran high 10's at almost 130mph (and drove it around in the same spec) that had over 75 1/4 mile passes on. I also dragged my current fun-car, an ‘04 RX8, and ran high 14's at 94mph. I had fun doing both.

Turbo Teen’s freaky-ass face disturbed me when I was a kid and it still hasn’t got any better.

I sometimes am truly baffled by how hard it is for some people to not be shitbag human beings.

Or this Dodge Journey at 81-months for $727 a month. Yeah, totally about protecting the consumer........

And I really wonder how much money they are losing in the long-term by taking these paycuts. Like you said, he could be a ‘lone wolf’ on a smaller market team putting up solid numbers and making the playoffs only to go out in the first or second round slowly fading into oblivion.

I vacuumed out the wife’s Mazda-5 the other day and I would not doubt that 80lbs of cookie crumbs could be accumulated in a minivan.
