Err... I was describing my situation. So, all of the things I said apply to me. Literally.

Economy is different. So, commodities like food and stuff are competitively priced according to the economy. Tech, on the other hand, is priced even higher than US. For example, Samsung EVO 850 costs about $88 in US. In here, it’s about $114. In comparison a pack of Lay’s that costs about $3-4 in US costs roughly 20

Well, it’s okay, actually. I make way less than what you mentioned. But that’s in a different economy. So, I guess it’s okay. Secondly, at least (s)he looks concerned. Some other comments were plainly rude.

Okay, that’s way more than I make. But that’s in a different economy, so it’s not as bad. And I think he’s still way better than some commenters above. At least he looks concerned.

Totally! No idea why it does that to me. It’s probably the slow connection.

In developing countries software development is paid $3-$4/hour. And that’s a good salary. Also, in the same countries, SSDs (and tech in general) is a lot more expensive than in US.

Okay. I just reevaluated my life. It says putting food on the table is more important than saving a few minutes a day - even in 2016. I’ve seen, used and experienced SSDs. It’s very hard to use HDDs now. It’s just that it’s harder to not have money for other necessities.

You are right.

  1. PC’s eat through electricity like crazy. Especially, the old ones.

Frankly, potatoes can be very charismatic on screen. Especially so if you’re hungry.

If North Korea can figure out how to get a satellite in space, you can learn C.

Well played. I thought that the joke mignt be lost, but nope!

What open ended answers do you give?

At what point did brinjal become eggplant? It’s such a funny name!

Most programmers (including me, especially me) are too dumb to figure out C. On the other hand, JavaScript is just popular - doesn’t make it right. There’s that weird type system. Crawl of 100 frameworks a day. Anyhow it’s just interpreted language. I doubt if it will run as fast as even partially compiled languages

You still haven’t answered the question. I never said Java was great. I don’t even like it. But what’s the better option? Scala? Haskell, even? C#?

He thinks that it sucks. But truth is there’s so much software already using Java. Many backend systems, most of the current and next gen Big Data stack and what not are build using Java. Now, if we were to discard Java, we sure do need something to write that software in.

Why the hate? What replacement do you suggest?
