I think Volkswagen’s biggest problems (at least in the states) will always be (A) The dealers, which are usually the only game in town and tend to be total cocks and (B) Volkswagen owners, which think they’re in some private club that entitles them to talk to you at gas stations and in parking lots. It is very weird.

Just like the AC never just “needs a recharge” it never just “needs a headgasket”. That said, still probably worth it. NP

I am an electrical engineer and people are consistently surprised I’m not building electric cars or tesla coils or whatever in my free time and instead choose to work on old cars and other miscellaneous non-EE stuff.

I don’t see whiskey anywhere on that list... You know... for sterilizing things or barter or... whatever.

I think I would at least wear long sleeves or SOME sort of arm protection. It is probably hotter than balls but still...

I’d fund the face off that project!

Not the hero we need, but the hero we deserve?

Without comment.

I did a write up of how I came to own mine here.

I lived downtown when cycling became a thing in my city. It was awful. Actually it seemed like every weekend my street was closed for a race/ marathon/ walk/ run/ wedding. Its kinda cool the first few times, gets old after that. Frequently would have alterca- heated conversations with security/ cops that wouldn’t

With potentially 400k headed to the scrap yard with engines that are legally required to be unusable, I am more interested in the potential engine swaps we’re going to see on otherwise usable cars. LS swaps for days?

Dude. Just... just let it go.

Start learning about your car now. I know you’re interested, but I also know you’re afraid of screwing it up. You will, but that’s OK. Mom can take you to school while you figure your shit out. You will come to find out that all Swedish auto shops will smell blood and act accordingly.

My first thought was it was an emissions thing (because California).

The intent is to create some accountability outside of what is available through the city in order to maintain property values. Don’t turn your front lawn into a junkyard, cut your grass, paint your house as needed and in reasonably colors, etc. Unfortunately they usually end up getting run by busybodies and

I have also wondered about this! I was watching Survive Style +5 on a flight and suddenly became very uncomfortable, even though it was a pretty tame movie. I think the subtitles made it slightly more uncomfortable.

When the shiftier and the volume knob are the same size and near each other, you’re gonna have a bad time. (LOOKING AT YOU AUDI!)

I am mostly against connected... well pretty much anything. And yes, I am a “snake person”. Most manufacturers regard security as an second thought, only to be dealt with if someone bothers to compromise these ready and willing targets, and even then only if the PR is bad enough. Much like recalls don’t seem to hurt

I’ve, thankfully, never encountered this. What I have had happen is similar, but seems more like a sales tactic. Essentially I’ll see a car on CL or equ at price X. When I go to the dealer (ad in hand, because that’s how I roll) they have the car marked at, or say they have it for sale for, 2X or more and it must

And this is why we proofread kids. Sorry about all the typos!
