I concur. I’m friends with a lot of nurses and texting them in the middle of the afternoon is the equivalent of texting someone with a 9-5 job at 3 am (due to their work shifts). And yet the person with the 9-to-5 job will get all twisted when the nurse texts back after his/her workday (at, say, 11 pm).

I must be texting wrong - i never expect an immediate response to a text so I might text late at night because I won’t remember but I wouldn’t care if you texted back at 5 am. (Because my phone isn’t in the bed room.)

Putting texts on DND seems like an obvious solution. If there’s a real overnight emergency, people will call.
