It took me a bit too, but it’s less of a “tap and hold” and more of a “swipe left or right along the space bar.” Type some text (I just poked to a random place in a URL in Chrome’s address bar) and tap somewhere to position the cursor and bring up the keyboard. Press the spacebar and swipe left or right.
