I actually felt the same way. At first glance I was like “wow this is beautiful/charming” but after about 4 hours, I had no desire to keep going. I love hack and slash/dungeon crawlers too. It just wasn’t engaging enough and the combat felt kinda bland. 

If you couldn’t get into the first chapter, why would you wonder if you should go back in? For most accounts, the game is great but if it’s not jiving with you, that’s ok.

Agreed totally. I usually WANT to enjoy base building games but after like 2-3 hours I usually stop because I hate all of the management, tedium but this was a nice balance. And the action/gunplay didn’t feel like a tacked on after thought, it was well polished.
