That’s why they should make an AW11 redux. Small, uses common parts (Yaris GR engine? Yes please!), reasonably practical (I can fit a week’s shopping into the trunk of mine, and can put extra stuff in the frunk if I need to), fun and not too expensive (ballpark price should be a bit more than the 86).

Okay, hear me out. Take a gt86, but put the GR Yaris motor in the backseat and give it a frunk. We can parts bin this thing together. 

I’d rather buy a Corolla based MR2 than a Croostrek engined 86. Sign me up for the MR2. I’d imagine they could do the MR2 for $30K.

I’m all for being frugal and driving old cars, but that Impala sounds like a rolling hazard to you, everyone else on the road, and the environment. A well-maintained old car is one thing, but a dangerous crap can is a whole other matter.

You won’t fail a NY safety inspection due to any of the above unless there was a misfire causing an emissions CEL. This dealer sounds shady.
