No one's reading this, but whoever said there were zero references to future BSG characters totally missed that Daniel Graystone is the mysterious Daniel referred to by the final five in BSG's last season.

sweet
I've been meaning to read more Cormac McCarthy. I loved The Road and No Country for Old Men. Next time I'm out, I'll pick up a copy.
love her
Just thinking about her little song in 40 Year Old Virgin makes me laugh out loud. I will watch anything if she's involved.
I am going to keep the mental image of Tom Hanks trapped in a big plastic bag in my head every time I'm sad. That was fucking hilarious.
Farewell, Chang. May your business develop fully and your stomach stay strong.
Jesus, I shouldn't have read that. Not only was this article almost impossible to get through without gagging, but that description of the brain removal makes me proud to be a vegetarian. Barf.
The Chick/Arturo dynamic is one of my favorite things about this novel.
"I expected the parents to become stubbornly happy, senile and somewhat despondent to their children's flawed tendencies because, and I appear to be the only person who believes this among us, a lot of parents in the past have done exactly this in real life with complex situations."
The omnipotence you mention is actually the no. 1 reason I could never get into Superman, and why I got bored with Heroes after everyone got Magic Cheerleader Blood and couldn't die. Too much power. But in the case of Chick, I thought it was fascinating, because he didn't understand his potential and he was too busy…
Chick was the only character I really loved. He was born into a family full of manipulative people, and he just wanted to do right by them. I'd almost forgotten about his dangerous actions as an infant until now, and it really sheds some light on how he acted at the end of the novel.
I, for one, was relieved when I figured out Dunn wasn't going to go the Arty/Oly sex scene route. I read the parts of the novel were Oly becomes aware of her sexuality and motherhood potential with quiet dread and fear.
Those are well-done. I had the hardest time picturing Oly for some reason.
Al and Lil
I thought Lil's change was handled quite well. I had more of a problem with Al. It didn't make sense that such a brash showman would just devolve like that under Arty's regime. I expected Al to put up a fight. Instead, he just gets drunk and the character withers into nothing. Lil's (past and present)…
thoughts
I agree that the fire seemed to come out of nowhere and felt totally rushed, but overall I really liked the book.
The breastfeeding descriptions grossed me out more than the incestuous telekinetic impregnating bit.
I think Chick was my favorite character, he was so earnest and good.
great selection!
This is a creepy ass book, but I really really like it. I am about 250 pages in and I'm a little scared of how it's going to end.
sweet!
My mother has been an obsessive Prince fan my whole life. As a result, I can't help but love him.
I love him.
Morrissey puts on an amazing live show. Until I saw Radiohead last summer, he was no. 1 on my list of greatest concert experiences.
cool
I'm more of a yeye girl, but I'll definitely check out some chanson.
I started worshiping in high school and I still love him now.
