I heard some guys very loudly discussing physical vs digital media in a nearly empty mall a few weeks ago and one of them said that streaming will be the future.

I sure as fuck hope not, because that will cut a lot of people out of gaming entirely, at least in the states. Decent Internet is still a “luxury.” Not to

They are refunding 100% of all purchases, including hardware and games. I can’t help but think that if they’d guaranteed this up-front instead of being glib and evasive about it when potential customers were asking about it, they might have done enough business to prevent this scenario from occurring in the first

And don’t let the door bump you on the ass on the way out.

it was me

peepee

I can’t be the only person to see the footage and be impressed with the visuals—I think it looks quite good, especially for such a an early build.

What has surprised me most about this leak is the number of fanboys who’ve seen the leaked footage, replete with placeholder models, temporary animation, and visible code superimposed on top of the gameplay and gone “WTF, Rockstar?! This doesn’t look like a finished game! What a clown show!”

Rockstar once again in the news thanks to hot beverages

I was like it better be Jason reporting it. And forgot he doesn't write here anymore

For serious, he's been pounding this drum since I first started coming here.

But in THIS context it is.  People don’t get a remake of a movie confused with a remaster of one.  They know exactly which is which.  This confusion only exists in the video game space.

yes they are because they’re both consumer terms that have little to nothing to do with the production process.

At this point, it’s best to just let it go. By now the two terms have become so interchangeable, it’s pointless to fight against it. Kind of like how Sandbox and Open World used to mean two different things, then Open World just became that standard term.

I get what you’re saying in this case (and I’m definitely not giving the developers a pass to half-ass it), but it’s also worth mentioning that 60fps has been the standard pretty much forever. Super Mario Bros on the NES ran at 60fps. 30fps was also common, but games didn’t advertise one or the other and I don’t know

Sure, but we aren’t talking about a competitive FPS or fighting game here. Obviously it matters in a “I need to get every advantage I can since my opponent will” situation, but in most cases to most players, I don’t think it matters.

Agreed, so long as the framerate isn’t constantly changing (which I DO notice), lower ones are generally fine. That some people prioritize framerate over other things like you said is crazy to me, but I guess it’s good that the option is given.

I have zero desire to start noticing that, I like being able to enjoy things.

I gotta be honest, I do not and in most cases cannot notice the frame rate difference between 30 and 60fps. I’m not arguing that they shouldn’t try and make it look good, but I also don’t think most people care.

Honestly, considering its quality, there’s probably more bang for your buck if you’re not getting the sequel.

I can’t believe these heckin’ lazy game devs STILL haven’t learned to take the FPS Slider in their engine, and just slide it all the way over to 60 when they’re building it to begin with!

60 fps kind of makes me queasy sometimes (I can usually get used to it after maybe ten minutes or so, though) so when i can I’ll often lock down the framerate to 45 or 30 anyways. It IS really weird that the original ran at 60 fps and this one doesn’t, though, especially since it honestly doesn’t look like that much
