What is this strawmanny nonsense.

Saw this headline and literally LOL’d.

Nice.

I just beat Ori this week! It’s a very pretty game and is fairly manageable as far as metroidvanias go. Some of the boss-type stages and major dungeons are absolutely brutal though.

Yi-ikes. Amazon did a really good job with my Deluxe Edition. I got advance notice that it would be delayed since it’s a low priority item. Then when it was scheduled to arrive this Wednesday it actually showed up bright and early on Tuesday.

Ideally: FF7R on the ps4; Owlboy on Switch; FF12 on Switch

It’s a great game and the complete edition is only $15 on Amazon!

Jason, THANK YOU for everything you brought to this site, and to its readers, and to game journalism as a whole. I totally understand having to move on after what happened to Deadspin. Quite frankly, the new “ownership” doesn’t deserve you (and many others).

Yeah, so uhh, don’t mean to scare you, but that painful painful tree escape sequence isn’t the worst of the game... I A’d my way through Cuphead, but some of the later escapes in Ori were still more frustrating.

I’m just here to say I just beat the first game and it was lovely. Really wish this one was out on Switch too :-/

I beat Ori over the weekend! It’s great and charming and I would recommend sticking with it. I also had taken some time off, but thanks to the map and kinda loose plot it was easy to jump back in.

I think it flew under the radar because open world games weren’t a thing back in 2006. It was super divisive because it wasn’t obviously turn-based and felt like an MMO (really, the only comparison at the time). But it has aged like fine wine.

It still looks great and it aged so well. I hated it when it came out, but now that open-world games are the norm it makes so more sense. It’s a quasi-turn-based Witcher, essentially. The plot is kinda wonky, but eh.

No beef! I want to play this game! I want to love everything about this game! But every time I try I get derailed. First it was BotW. Then it was...Spider-Man DLC possibly, or maybe the itch to replay all the Bioshock Infinite. And now it’s going to be FF7R.

My FF7R won’t arrive until Tuesday which is totally fine. Gives me time to finish FFXII (final dungeon unlocked, but I want to finish these last hunts and collect a few more espers, dammit) and Ori and the Blind Forest. I’m also gonna pretend to try to return to Horizon again...which is gonna be displaced by Tuesday

So I went into the game expecting to be super fancy with gambit setups, but I found no need to? I rarely change anyone’s default board.

> I think it took me a year or so to work my way through the game the first time because I got stuck on just about every boss due to my running away from random battles constantly!

And watery pass was already the worst in the original!

Ha! That’s funny; I got FFMQ and FF4 simultaneously. I had no idea what was going on with the former so the latter actually eased me into harder and more complex RPGs. But it also spoiled me: “What do you mean I can’t retry if my entire party gets KO’d?!”

It’s a great way to add additional puzzles that change up the walk-battle-walk-battle loop. Lufia 2 and Golden Sun also have overworld weapons/skills I think.
